Memo Presents: The Sun Kings

Get ready to dance, reflect, and be swept away by the infectious rhythms of The Sun Kings, an all-star band drawn from Cardiff’s vibrant live music scene.

Featuring members of Railroad Bill, Junior Bill, The Heavy Quartet, and Baracwda Samba Band, The Sun Kings fuse Latin-inspired grooves with rich songwriting and dynamic musicianship. Their live shows are a joyous, high-energy celebration that moves effortlessly between rhythm-driven movement and more reflective, melodic moments.

Their album Lovers Always Win was described by BBC Radio Wales’ Adam Walton as “brilliant,” while Greg Butler of Camp Bestival called their sound “an injection of Colombian sunshine… delicious! Welcome back anytime!” The Sun Kings have lit up stages at Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, and Italy’s Pennabilli Festival, and now bring their uplifting, genre-blending live show to Barry.

Supporting them are Lemongel, a Cardiff-based alternative duo crafting emotionally charged songs layered with cinematic soundscapes. Daniel and Duarte explore vulnerability, love, and uncertainty through intimate vocals and textured, groove-led arrangements inspired by Bossa Nova, Tame Impala, and D’Angelo. Recently selected for the BBC Horizons Fund, Lemongel are developing a new project for early 2026 combining music with visual storytelling.
