Family Cinema
We know that visiting the theatre or cinema with the family is exciting, but can also be a bit daunting.
We are proud to be a family friendly arts centre, and we welcome children and families to our affordable events and film screenings.
We regularly screen affordable family friendly films during the school holidays.
Assessible Cinema
Our relaxed film screenings were specially designed to welcome people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication disorders, learning disabilities or anyone who would benefit from a relaxed environment into the cinema.
What makes the screenings relaxed?
Relaxed Screenings have a less formal, more supportive atmosphere in order to reduce anxiety levels. There is a relaxed attitude to audience noise and movement, and some small changes are made to the sound levels with reduced advertising material.
Silver Screen
If you’re 60+, you can enjoy the films, seasonal classics with Silver Screen perfect for bringing the the family along to.
You can book a Silver Screen ticket online in advance or in-venue on the day, subject to availability.
Dementia Friendly Cinema
Our Dementia Friendly cinema programme features regular afternoon screenings for everyone to enjoy.
These relaxed film screenings are specifically tailored for people living with dementia, their carers and families, aiming to make cinema more accessible, by providing an inclusive experience, in a safe and welcoming environment.

Barry's Local Cinema
As an independent cinema we screen block busters, family favourites and specialised films throughout the year in our fabulous 4K Sony Digital Cinema (four times the detail of Full HD) with superb Dolby Surround Sound.
We have carried out a feasibility and have been given the assurance that with a successful fundraising campaign we have the space and capacity to install a second screen in the venue, so this is one of the projects we’re working on, and when completed, we will be able to present daily 4k cinema in Barry.
