“Sometimes I feel like a foreigner in my own body”
Sandra isn’t feeling quite right. When an ever-helpful Audio Description voice steps in to take control, she is guided through a carefully curated journey of air travel, luxury, and emotional processing. But things quickly begin to unravel as it becomes clear that this is not the journey Sandra wants to take.
Foreigner in My Body is a surreal, physical theatre work that explores autonomy, identity, and the tension between external narratives and lived experience. Framed through tongue-in-cheek theatricality and layered with integrated audio description and captions, the work blurs the line between support, control, and resistance.
Taking inspiration from airport security, luggage carousels, and the spectacle of travel, the show uses movement, humour, and aerial silks to unpack themes of bodily ownership and dislocation, including reflections on trans identity and the experience of feeling othered within your own body.
