Please read below to find the answers to frequently asked questions, including how to book, hiring the venue and access.

Booking your Tickets

If you’d rather purchase your tickets directly from our Box Office, you can pop into the venue during our opening hours (Monday-Wednesday, 10:00-15:00) and a member of staff will be on hand to help process your order.

You can call us on 01446 738622 during our phone opening hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00-15:00).  A member of our team will then be able to process your order.

You can also use this number to contact us if you have any questions or queries regarding events, tickets, venue access, etc.

If our phone lines are busy, please email us your query and a member of our team will get back to you.

Our tickets are now digital, and we will send a confirmation email with your e-tickets linked as a PDF.

When you arrive at the theatre all you need to do is open your emails, and show us your smartphone displaying your e-tickets.

If you are unable to use a smartphone for your e-tickets, you can print off your ticket at home and a member of our Front of House team will scan the QR code for you as you enter the auditorium.

What if I don’t have an email address? Don’t worry, Box Office can issue physical tickets.

I have lost my e-tickets and/or the printed version. What do I do? Please check your junk folders and any other email address you may use. If you still can’t find our email, please contact Box Office immediately so they can re-issue a new e-ticket as soon as possible.

We also offer complimentary tickets for carers.

We provide free carer tickets for members of Hynt and CEA, and registered carers / residential staff.

You can book carer tickets by calling our Box Office on 01446 738622 during our opening hours (Mon-Fri, 10:00-15:00), or emailing boxoffice@memoartscentre.co.uk, and a member of our team will process your booking.

If you need to change your current tickets there will be a admin charge of £2 for each amendment.

Refunds can only be granted to performances or screenings that have been cancelled or postponed. In the unlikely event of a cancellation the face value of the ticket will be refunded or exchanged.

While You’re Here

Try to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the performance to allow time to buy some snacks and drinks, and pre-order more for the interval. Our theatre bars open an hour before a performance starts.

The theatre doors usually open 30 minutes before a show starts.

We understand that arriving late is sometimes unavoidable. Upon arrival please make yourself known to a member of staff who will advise you when to enter the theatre.

Please note that latecomers may be asked to wait until the interval or a suitable break in the performance before taking their seats.

No, photography and filming are not permitted in the theatre once a show has started out of respect to the performers. We do however encourage all customers to take a pre-show selfie and tag us on our social channels.

If you want to take professional photography or film for any reason then you must seek prior permission from our marketing office.

There are male and female toilets on the ground floor, next to both entrances to the building. Our accessible toilets are found closest to the cenotaph entrance on the ground floor.

There are also unisex toilets located on the third floor.

Baby changing facilities are located in the accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Prams can be left in our Buggy Park next to the Auditorium (please note that these are left at owner’s risk).

Highchairs and booster seats are available, and our Front of House staff will be happy to provide hot water for warming baby bottles.

How to Find Us

We have our own FREE on-site car park with 130 spaces, including designated Disabled parking bays. There is also on street parking around the venue on Gladstone Road and St Pauls Avenue.

We are easily accessible by train. Barry (0.7 miles) and Barry Docks (0.6 miles) are the nearest stations and they are both a ten minute walk away from us. The last train to Cardiff usually leaves Barry Docks at 23:15 (please check official train times before leaving).

Bus routes from Cardiff and the surrounding areas are frequent. There is a bus stop within 30m of the venue (Cardiff Bus). There is another bus stop a few minutes away at Barry Civic Offices with additional bus services. Please check times before leaving.

Yes, please get in touch with the Hires Team today about your event and they will arrange a site visit for you.

After making a venue booking, you can hold a date provisionally with us for 14 days.

Once we have received your signed venue hire Terms & Conditions together with your deposit, your booking is be confirmed. The hire balance is required no later than four weeks before your chosen date.

Payments should be made via bank transfer.

Additional information including floorplans, capacities, technical plans and suitability for each space can be requested from us – please contact us for these.

Yes, provided that all decorations are nonflammable, non-marking, removed at the end of your event and nothing is stuck to paintwork.

Yes, the Memo’s performance spaces (Main Auditorium and Glamorgan Suite) can be hired by theatre companies or drama/dance groups, whether professional or amateur, wanting to put on a show, run workshops or rehearse in a professional theatre.
