Desiree Akhavan, Destiny Ekaragha and more to mentor Welsh female Filmmakers

The directors of Appropriate Behaviour and Gone Too Far! will join Rebecca Johnson (Honeytrap) and Corinna McFarlane (The Silent Storm) as mentors on BFI NET.WORK WALES and Ffilm Cymru Wales’ talent lab for emerging female filmmakers in August.

The intensive training event, generously supported by EON Productions, and presented in partnership with Creative Skillset, CULT Cymru, BAFTA Cymru and The Welsh Broadcast Trust, will offer emerging female filmmakers from Wales mentoring, masterclasses, workshops and discussion sessions.

Held between 24th and 28th August at Memo Arts Centre, the filmmakers’ lab will also include public screenings of Appropriate Behaviour, Gone Too Far!, Honeytrap and The Silent Storm, as well as a networking reception hosted by BAFTA Cymru.

Additionally, there will be an open session to stimulate wider debate across the sector on pro-active ways to support women in overcoming challenges to entering or remaining in the sector and to share their stories.
