Music in Film focused participatory music workshops, led by composer Helen Woods and musician Rhian Workman.
These workshops, aimed at local schools and community groups, will widen audiences’ appreciation of silent film whilst introducing them to the sound world of the Gamelan.
These workshops will teach Gamelan percussion instruments, with no experience needed, and show the interaction between film and music using sections of the silent Charlie Chaplin’s 1925 The Gold Rush, alongside the 2004 black comedy adventure film of Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events, to showcase soundtrack, music and the powerful impact of Gamelan music.
