November 2020 – An update…
We will be sharing a short film of the work created during the weekly digital sessions very soon. Aleksandra Nikolajev Jones, choreographer and creative producer on this special engagement project reflected on the last 6 weeks of work: “We are very happy with the process and outcomes of this pilot. Looking forward to seeing the final pieces. The group of people is amazing and very proactive.”
Participants who joined this participative project had experienced isolation during 2020 for a range of reasons and we would like to thank Vale 50+, Innovate Trust and U3A for helping us to reach their members in our community.
Using a mix of art forms and mindfulness, participants have explored their creativity with professionals and made connections in a time when meeting new people has been challenging.

Two of the participants talk in this short film about their experiences during the project, how they found the process and what they would like to see happen next.
Memo Arts Centre thanks all the artists involved in facilitating and developing The Space Between Our Thoughts and we have been blown away by the participants, those who appear in the final film and others who have engaged with the project. We had more people take part earlier in the project and we are grateful for all contributions. Watch this space for the final short film.
2020 has been a challenging year but we hope that this project, which had wellbeing and mindfulness at its heart, has given those who took part a chance to explore their imaginations, to have a safe space to be creative, to meet new people and try new technology. This pilot project also provided employment for freelance artists in a year which has seen many projects and paid opportunities cancelled. As a venue, we are developing more opportunities for our community to engage creatively with professional artists, to reconnect with us, each other and the space between our thoughts.
