New for 2022!
Songs and Scones; Relaxed matinee concerts at the Memo Arts Centre, Barry
Songs and Scones is a new series of matinee concerts, perfect for those who would enjoy a lovely afternoon of live music, those who feel isolated and is also accessible for people living with Dementia and their carers.
Each matinee concert is delivered in relaxed, cabaret style and begins with an informal participatory music session led by Live Music Now musicians. Throughout the concert, audiences will enjoy delightful live music along with tea and cakes.
With funding from the Arts Council of Wales, the Memo is once again working in partnership with Live Music Now, the UK’s leading musicians’ development and outreach charity, who provide exceptional live music experiences to people with limited access to the arts, due to disability, illness or social disadvantage.
Songs and Scones are truly heart-warming afternoons which bring families and friends together, offer new experiences, and allow many to re-visit memories from the past. Participants benefit from the amazing therapeutic, social and emotional benefits of engaging with live music – an experience that transforms and enriches lives.
The first Songs and Scones matinee concert was due to take place on Tuesday 18 January at 1:30pm (doors open at 1pm) but due to the change in restrictions we have delayed launching the series of concerts. The first will now be Wednesday 9th March. Seren Winds and another tbc soloist will move to a date later in the year.
Tickets are £5.00, Hynt cards are accepted, and Essential Companions are free.
All tickets include either tea or coffee with a delicious slice of cake.
